IPR Center Announces New Director

WASHINGTON– Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) Executive Associate Director Katrina W. Berger has announced that Ivan J. Arvelo has been appointed as the new Director of the National Intellectual Property Rights Coordination Center (IPR Center). The IPR Center, which stands at the forefront of the U.S. government's response to global intellectual property theft and trade law enforcement, collaborates with federal agencies, international law enforcement, academia, and private sector partners.

“For more than two decades, the National Intellectual Property Rights Coordination Center has led the government's actions to combat global intellectual property theft and enforce trade laws,” said Katrina W. Berger, Executive Associate Director of HSI. “The Center’s mission to address the theft of innovation that threatens economic stability and jeopardizes public health and safety is crucial. Ivan J. Arvelo’s distinguished career and exceptional leadership make him ideally suited to advance this mission. His proven expertise will drive the IPR Center’s efforts to protect innovation and ensure public safety.”

In his new role, Arvelo will lead the Center’s efforts to safeguard national security and public health, working alongside key partners such as HSI Deputy Director Mike Ball, FBI Deputy Director Anthony Sankey, and CBP Deputy Director Brandon Lord.

The IPR Center, where “Protection is our Trademark,” was established to address the theft of innovation that poses a risk to economic stability and public health. The Center is instrumental in developing initiatives, coordinating enforcement actions, and sharing information related to intellectual property theft and trade fraud.
